NOAH DOELY
Noah Doely has a thing about science, myth and art. It's a curiosity that lets him see how the natural world has been measured and depicted throughout history, and how photography and other experiences interpret reality.
THE EXPANSE OF A FACT: The photographs in A Natural History andThe Expanse of a Fact were physically constructed at all stages, from the building of props to the staging and photographing of these scenes using the wet collodion process: a nineteenth century photographic technology in which they were shot directly off the subjects onto pieces of glass (ambrotypes) and tin (tintypes). These narrative images portray fictional historical figures examining, ordering, and recording their worlds with a variety of different tools.

How might Noah have worked? Starting with the idea for the narrative, then staging the photograph? Or, starting with the image elements? How much of the story is possible to tell in one frame.

Brainstorm classic story genres or themes
What elements and /or principals can be use to help your narrative? Can you identify which they are or are you doing it subconsciously.
Taking the narritive photos: Think about use of light, location, staging, composition.
Editing the photos tips/ideas: The use of old photos and blending with taken photos.

2. What important scientific markers happened because of photography throughout its development from the early stages to now? (Look for the questions and answers that imply major events in time or the changes in history because of photography)
3. What visually was the most memorable event in the historic videos to you? and why?
